An open letter to the Cleveland Hillel Foundation.
Sir,
I am writing to thank you for your invitation to attend what will surely be the party of the century, “Purimpalooza!” I cannot tell you how many nights I stayed up worrying that I wouldn’t have anything to do on Saturday, March 26, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm, but when I got five identical invitations in the mail, my fears were over!
I would also like to congratulate you for your open-mindedness and commitment to diversity. Most people would not expect a Jewish organization to invite German Protestants to religious-themed holiday events, but then again I suppose most people have never received a mass mailing from your fine organization.
I can barely contain my eagerness to see D.J. Monte and the Chaimi Shemndrix Experience. I am impressed that you got such a well-known outfit on such short notice, and even more impressed by your choice of venue. The B-Side Lounge is, without a doubt, the number one seedy college tavern in the East Cleveland area. I only wish that I had been born a year earlier, that I could legally drink myself into blessed oblivion while others engaged in such activities as face painting, storytelling, and folk dancing, as detailed on your card.
I look forward to this event, and to receiving what will doubtless be thousands more mass mailings from the Cleveland Hillel Foundation!
Shalom!
