Why the pineapple is no subsitute for a universal turing machine.
So, I like pineapple. Alot. One of the advantages of RIT (of the few, or the one) is that the pineapple is plentiful, and often quite good. Now, I'm by no means an expert on the subject of pineapples. I don't, for example, know on what sort of tree they grow on. I'm fairly sure it is not a pine tree. I don't know in what regions they grow, either. But one thing I do know, is how to identify good pineapple from bad pineapple. This doesn't sound like much of a skill, and certainly, it is not, however, it is a useful one, particularly for a fan of pineapple such as myself. It's a tough sort of skill to communicate, it relies on several years of experience, and a certain intuition about the wonderful yellow fruit, but I will attempt to relay it to you (This applies only to cut up pineapple. I haven't a clue about what to make of the fruit in its native form, other than it hides its precious fruit inside a hard, spiky husk that must be cut away to release the delights inside. I told you I wasn't an expert).
The main indicator is the color. It should be a bright yellow (which I'm currently at a loss to find something that is similar in color). It should also be firm looking, with little to no juice present. This is not to say it shouldn't be dry, but it certainly shouldn't be floating in a pool of juice either. If it appears to be soft and a darker yellow, it is probably overripe, and not that great. Beware of pineapple that is whitish-yellow in appearance, surrounded by excessive juice. This is canned pineapple, a scourge of the pineapple sea. Avoid it at all costs, lest you be caught in it's stringy, tasteless web.
If you are looking to spice up your fruit experience, have some strawberries and pineapple together. For some reason, strawberries seem to be the perfect complement to pineapple. Also good with strawberries is kiwi. I don't know if kiwi is good with pineapple. I suspect not, since I do not believe relations on fruits are transitive, though I have not tried it myself, since they don't often appear together, at the school in any place (leave it to a computer scientist to relate fruits to set theory).
Ok, so I realize most of that previous talk was useless, but what do you expect, this is a blog (sort of), it can't help but be mostly useless.
I had something else to say here, but I got distracted, and forgot what it was. I think it had something to do with the website, but I'm not sure. I guess it is a mystery that will have to wait for another day (which may be no day, or maybe may day, but not sundae).
